TOI-1420 b: A Jupiter-Like World

TOI-1420 is a star 659 light-years from Earth with one known planet. The star has a reported upper limit of 10.7 billion years, a mass of 0.987 solar masses, a radius of 0.923 solar radii, and a temperature of 5510 K. Its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-1420 b was discovered by transit in 2023, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. It is classified as Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds four times Earth's. Its radius is 11.9 Earth radii and its mass is 25.1 Earth masses, both larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.0823 g/cm³, 0.0149 times Earth's. It completes one orbit every 6.96 days.
