TOI-1298 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-1298 is a star located 1040 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 4.3 billion years old and has a mass of 1.22 solar masses and a radius of 1.45 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's. Its temperature is 5750 K.

The planet, TOI-1298 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2021. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-1298 b is Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 9.66 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 99 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 4.54 days. Its mean density is 0.606 g/cm³, 0.11 times Earth's.
