TOI-1269: A Cooler, Smaller Sun with Two Super-Earths

TOI-1269 is a star located 561 light-years away with two known planets. Its reported mass estimate is 0.903 solar masses and its reported radius estimate is 0.852 solar radii; both are smaller than the Sun's. The star's reported temperature is 5500 K, cooler than the Sun's, and its age is 3.1 billion years.

Both planets are Super-Earths, a size class comparing radius with Earth's: a Super-Earth reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. TOI-1269 b was discovered by transit in 2024, and TOI-1269 c by transit in 2026. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods.

TOI-1269 b has a reported radius estimate of 2.4 Earth radii and a reported mass estimate of 6.4 Earth masses, both larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 2.55 g/cm³, 0.462 times Earth's. Its orbital period is 4.25 days. Among the listed planets, TOI-1269 b has the shortest year by reported estimates and the largest radius by reported estimates.

TOI-1269 c has a reported radius estimate of 2.23 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 9.24 days. Among the listed planets, TOI-1269 c has the longest year by reported estimates and the smallest radius by reported estimates.
