TOI-1259 A b: A Jupiter-like World on a Short Orbit

TOI-1259 A is a star 385 light-years away, with one known planet in orbit around it. The star is 4.8 billion years old and has a mass of 0.744 solar masses and a radius of 0.711 solar radii. Its temperature is 4780 K, and its reported mass, radius, and temperature estimates are all smaller or cooler than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-1259 A b was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is classified as Jupiter-like, a size class for planets exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 11.6 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 141 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.498 g/cm³, 0.0903 times Earth's.

TOI-1259 A b completes an orbit in 3.48 days, and its mean density reflects a mass and radius both far above Earth's.
