TOI-1235 and Its Super-Earth

TOI-1235 is an M-type main-sequence star, a small, cool red dwarf, located 129 light-years away. The star's reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, at 0.63 solar masses, and its reported radius estimate is also smaller than the Sun's, at 0.619 solar radii. Its temperature is 4000 K, cooler than the Sun's, and its age is 5.3 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-1235 b, is a Super-Earth discovered in 2020 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-1235 b has a mass of 6.69 Earth masses and a radius of 1.69 Earth radii; both its reported mass estimate and its reported radius estimate are larger than Earth's. It completes one orbit every 3.44 days. Its mean density is 7.64 g/cm³, 1.39 times Earth's.

Its radius places it in the Super-Earth size class, which extends to 2.5 times Earth's radius.
