TOI-7149 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-7149 is an M4 V star, a small, cool red dwarf, located 411 light-years away. It hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 7.8 billion years old, with a mass of 0.344 solar masses, a radius of 0.351 solar radii, and a temperature of 3360 K. Its mass and radius are each smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, TOI-7149 b, was discovered in 2025 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness, with repeated dips helping to establish its orbital period. It is classified as Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds four times Earth's. Its radius is 13.2 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 224 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.537 g/cm³, 0.0974 times Earth's. TOI-7149 b completes an orbit every 2.65 days.
