Planet Around a Distant Microlensing Star

OGLE-2017-BLG-1375L is a star system 12400 light-years away whose single known planet was found by microlensing in 2020. The host star has a mass of 0.77 solar masses. Microlensing detects planets through the way a foreground star's gravity briefly brightens a background star, making it a useful method for finding worlds that are difficult to see directly.

The one known planet is OGLE-2017-BLG-1375L b. Its reported mass estimate is 3590 Earth masses, which is roughly 11.3 times Jupiter's mass and larger than Earth's. No orbital period is reported for OGLE-2017-BLG-1375L b.
