NGTS-34 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

NGTS-34 is a star 393 light-years away with a spectral type of F8 V. It is 2.7 billion years old and has a mass of 1.27 solar masses, a radius of 1.37 solar radii, and a temperature of 6130 K. Its reported mass, radius, and temperature estimates are all larger or hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is NGTS-34 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2025 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. It has a mass of 19.1 Earth masses and a radius of 3.65 Earth radii, both larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 2.16 g/cm³, 0.393 times Earth's. It completes one orbit every 43.1 days.
