NGTS-25 b: A Jupiter-Like World in a Close Orbit

NGTS-25 is a K0 V star located 1700 light-years away. This star has a mass of 0.91 solar masses and a radius of 0.86 solar radii. Its temperature is 5320 K, and its age is 3.49 billion years. One planet orbits NGTS-25.

That planet is NGTS-25 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2022 by the transit method. It has a mass of 203 Earth masses and a radius of 11.5 Earth radii, placing it well above the size threshold for its class. NGTS-25 b completes an orbit in 2.82 days. Its mean density is 0.742 g/cm³, which is 0.135 times Earth's. Both its mass and radius are larger than Earth's, while the host star is smaller and cooler than the Sun.
