Kepler-998 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-998 is a star located 3220 light-years away, and it hosts one planet. The star is estimated to be 3.31 billion years old, with a mass of 1.12 solar masses and a radius of 1.18 solar radii. Its temperature is 6060 K, and its reported mass and radius are larger than the Sun's, while its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet in this system is Kepler-998 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-998 b orbits its star every 5.65 days, and its radius is 2.32 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its size classification compares radius with Earth's rather than indicating composition.
