Kepler-952 b: A Jupiter-Like World in a Distant System

Kepler-952 is a star located 4250 light-years away. It has a mass of 1 solar masses, a radius of 0.99 solar radii, a temperature of 5730 K, and an age of 4.27 billion years. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-952 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-952 b has an orbital period of 130 days, the time it takes to complete one orbit. Its radius is 7.65 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Because a Jupiter-like planet exceeds 4 times Earth's radius, this classification reflects the planet's size rather than its composition.
