Kepler-933 b: A Super-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-933 is a star located 3320 light-years away, and it hosts one planet. The star is estimated to be 4.68 billion years old, with a mass of 0.87 solar masses and a radius of 0.84 solar radii. Its temperature is 5350 K. The star's reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-933 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it from our viewpoint. Repeated dips help establish the planet's orbital period, which is 14.2 days. Kepler-933 b is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 2.46 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
