Kepler-900 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-900 is a star 1590 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 4.57 billion years old, has a mass of 0.78 solar masses and a radius of 0.73 solar radii, and a temperature of 4840 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler.

The planet, Kepler-900 b, was discovered by transit in 2016. This method detects a small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it, and repeated dips help establish the orbital period. Kepler-900 b is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. It orbits every 6.99 days and has a radius of 2.08 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
