Kepler-889 and Its Earth-like Planet

Kepler-889 is a star 1950 light-years away with one known planet. The host star has an age of 3.98 billion years, a mass of 1.14 solar masses, a radius of 1.25 solar radii, and a temperature of 5960 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

The sole cataloged planet is Kepler-889 b, an Earth-like world discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-889 b completes an orbit every 3.74 days and has a radius of 1.09 Earth radii, placing it within the Earth-like size class, which stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius.
