Kepler-870 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-870 is a star located 4110 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star itself is 3.8 billion years old, has a mass of 1.01 solar masses, a radius of 1.02 solar radii, and a temperature of 5860 K.

The planet, Kepler-870 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-870 b completes an orbit every 21.4 days and has a radius of 2.78 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's. As a Neptune-like planet, its size class indicates a radius reaching up to four times that of Earth.
