Kepler-848 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-848 is a star 4500 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 8.32 billion years old and has a mass of 1.01 solar masses, a radius of 1.2 solar radii, and a temperature of 5700 K. Its reported radius is larger than the Sun's, while its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The sole planet, Kepler-848 b, was discovered by transit in 2016; a transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in brightness. Kepler-848 b is a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. It has an orbital period of 6.91 days and a radius of 1.7 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
