Kepler-798 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-798 is a star located 3170 light-years away. It hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 2.82 billion years old, with a mass of 1.19 solar masses and a radius of 1.29 solar radii. Its temperature is 6220 K, and its mass, radius, and temperature are all larger or hotter than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-798 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-798 b completes an orbit every 13.7 days. Its radius is 2.39 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. As a Super-Earth, its radius falls within the size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, though this describes its size rather than its composition.
