Kepler-733 and Its Lone Planet

Kepler-733 is a star located 2990 light-years away, with one known planet in orbit around it. The host star is 4.27 billion years old and has a mass of 0.9 solar masses, a radius of 0.86 solar radii, and a temperature of 5420 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The single planet, Kepler-733 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-733 b completes an orbit every 20.8 days. With a radius of 2.82 Earth radii, it is classified as Neptune-like, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
