Kepler-727 and Its Neptune-like Planet

Kepler-727 is a star located 2710 light-years away. It is 4.79 billion years old. Its mass is 0.89 solar masses and its radius is 0.86 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. Its temperature is 5440 K, cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-727 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-727 b completes an orbit every 5.15 days and has a radius of 2.53 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
