Kepler-726 and Its Neptune-like Planet

Kepler-726 is a star located 2490 light-years away, with a single known planet in its system. The host star is estimated to be 4.47 billion years old, with a mass of 0.88 solar masses and a radius of 0.85 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 5450 K, which is cooler than the Sun's, and both its mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's.

The one known planet, Kepler-726 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it from our viewpoint. Kepler-726 b is classified as Neptune-like, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 3.26 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it completes an orbit every 21.8 days.
