Kepler-712: A Cool Star With Two Transiting Worlds

Kepler-712 is a star located 2850 light-years away. It has 0.84 solar masses and 0.78 solar radii, making it less massive and smaller than the Sun. Its reported temperature is 5150 K, cooler than the Sun's, and it is 3.31 billion years old. Two planets orbit this host: Kepler-712 b and Kepler-712 c, both discovered in 2016 by the transit method.

Kepler-712 b is a Neptune-like planet with a radius of 3.41 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit in 21 days, the shortest year among the listed planets. Kepler-712 c is a Jupiter-like planet with a radius of 4.85 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's. Its orbital period is 227 days, the longest year among the listed planets. Kepler-712 b has the smallest radius among the listed planets, while Kepler-712 c has the largest.
