Kepler-624 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-624 is a star located 2440 light-years away. It is 3.72 billion years old, has a mass of 1.1 solar masses, a radius of 1.18 solar radii, and a temperature of 6120 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, Kepler-624 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-624 b completes its orbit every 14.6 days and has a radius of 2.31 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, placing it near the upper end of the Super-Earth size class, which reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius.
