Kepler-619: A Distant Star With Three Known Worlds

Kepler-619 is a star located 2940 light-years away. It has an age of 3.47 billion years, a mass of 1.09 solar masses, and a radius of 1.11 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 5980 K, hotter than the Sun's. Three planets are known to orbit this host.

All three planets were found by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-619 b was discovered in 2016 and is a Neptune-like planet with an orbital period of 5.4 days and a radius of 3.16 Earth radii. Kepler-619 c, also discovered in 2016, is a Super-Earth with an orbital period of 1.21 days and a radius of 1.69 Earth radii. Among the listed planets, Kepler-619 c has the shortest year and the smallest radius. Kepler-619 d was discovered in 2023 and is a Jupiter-like planet with an orbital period of 11.7 days and a radius of 4.17 Earth radii. Among the listed planets, Kepler-619 d has the longest year and the largest radius.

Each planet's reported radius is larger than Earth's. The star's reported mass and radius estimates are both larger than the Sun's.
