Kepler-607 and Its Two Known Planets

Kepler-607 is a star located 1690 light-years away, with two known planets orbiting it. The host star is estimated to be 4.9 billion years old, with a mass of 0.84 solar masses, a radius of 0.8 solar radii, and a temperature of 5200 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

Both planets were detected by transit, the method in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-607 b was discovered in 2016 and is classified as a Sub-Earth, a size class for planets smaller than Earth. It has an orbital period of 0.638 days and a radius of 0.87 Earth radii, smaller than Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest year and the smallest radius by reported estimates.

Kepler-607 c was discovered in 2021 and is classified as Neptune-like, a size class reaching four times Earth's radius. It has an orbital period of 39.7 days and a radius of 2.76 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the longest year and the largest radius by reported estimates.
