Kepler-606 b: A Neptune-Like World in a Distant System

Kepler-606 is a star located 3960 light-years away, with one known planet in orbit around it. The host star is estimated to have 1.13 solar masses and 1.22 solar radii, making it larger than the Sun in both mass and radius. Its reported temperature of 6160 K is also hotter than the Sun's, and its age is 2.88 billion years.

The single planet, Kepler-606 b, is classified as Neptune-like and was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It completes one orbit every 24.3 days, and its radius is 3.31 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
