Kepler-598 is a star 2220 light-years away with two planets orbiting it. The host star is 7.59 billion years old, has 0.87 solar masses, 0.86 solar radii, and a temperature of 5310 K. Its mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.
Both planets were found by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-598 b was discovered in 2016 and is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class reaching 2.5 times Earth's radius. It has an orbital period of 3.7 days and a radius of 1.5 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest year and the smallest radius.
Kepler-598 c, discovered in 2020, is Neptune-like, a size class reaching 4 times Earth's radius. It has an orbital period of 86.5 days and a radius of 3.02 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the longest year and the largest radius.
