Kepler-586 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-586 is a star located 2260 light-years away. It hosts one planet. The star is 4.17 billion years old and has a mass of 0.94 solar masses, a radius of 0.92 solar radii, and a temperature of 5580 K. Its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-586 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, which detects a planet as it passes in front of its star and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-586 b is a Neptune-like planet with an orbital period of 2.1 days and a radius of 2.79 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
