Kepler-582 and Its Neptune-like Planet

Kepler-582 is a star located 2,000 light-years away. It has 0.93 solar masses, 0.91 solar radii, and a temperature of 5,560 K. Its age is 4.47 billion years. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-582 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-582 b completes an orbit every 18.5 days, so that is its orbital period, or its year. Its radius is 3.68 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. A Neptune-like planet reaches up to 4 times Earth's radius, so Kepler-582 b falls within that size class.
