Kepler-569 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-569 is a star 2080 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 4.9 billion years old, has a mass of 0.95 solar masses, a radius of 0.93 solar radii, and a temperature of 5620 K. Its mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-569 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-569 b completes an orbit every 34.2 days. Its radius is 3.16 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Under the size classes used here, a Neptune-like planet can reach four times Earth's radius, so Kepler-569 b is classified as Neptune-like.
