Kepler-565 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-565 is a star with a single known planet. The host star is 4.07 billion years old and has a mass of 0.98 solar masses, a radius of 0.95 solar radii, and a temperature of 5740 K. Solar mass and radius compare stellar mass and radius with the Sun, so Kepler-565 is slightly less massive and slightly smaller than the Sun.

The planet Kepler-565 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods, and Kepler-565 b completes one orbit every 4.24 days. Its radius is 3.64 Earth radii, and its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's. Earth radii compare radius, not volume. As a Neptune-like planet, it falls within the size class that reaches up to 4 times Earth's radius, based on radius rather than composition.
