Kepler-561: A Distant Star With Two Known Planets

Kepler-561 is a star 2030 light-years away with two known planets. The star is 4.27 billion years old and has a mass of 0.96 solar masses, a radius of 0.94 solar radii, and a temperature of 5650 K.

Both planets were discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-561 b is a Jupiter-like planet with an orbital period of 58.4 days and a radius of 6.96 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Kepler-561 c is a Neptune-like planet with an orbital period of 5.35 days and a radius of 2.68 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, Kepler-561 c has the shortest year and smallest radius, while Kepler-561 b has the longest year and largest radius.
