Kepler-560 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-560 is a star system 357 light-years away. The host star has a mass of 0.269 solar masses and a radius of 0.272 solar radii, making it smaller than the Sun in both respects. Its temperature is 3430 K, cooler than the Sun, and it is 6.8 billion years old. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet is Kepler-560 b, a Super-Earth discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-560 b completes an orbit every 18.5 days and has a radius of 1.72 Earth radii, larger than Earth's radius. Super-Earth is a size classification: such planets reach 2.5 times Earth's radius.
