Kepler-536 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-536 is a star located 1510 light-years away. It has one planet. The star is 4.79 billion years old, with a mass of 0.92 solar masses and a radius of 0.89 solar radii. Its temperature is 5520 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-536 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-536 b is Neptune-like, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius. It orbits every 1.83 days, and its radius of 3.1 Earth radii is larger than Earth's.
