Kepler-491 and Its Lone Planet

Kepler-491 is a star 2060 light-years away with a single known planet in its system. The host star is 4.47 billion years old, holds 1.04 solar masses and 1.03 solar radii, and has a temperature of 5580 K.

The planet Kepler-491 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-491 b is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class that exceeds 4 times Earth's radius, and its radius is 8.92 Earth radii. Its orbital period is 4.23 days.

The star's reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, while its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.
