Kepler-404 and Its Two Planets

Kepler-404 is a star located 2650 light-years away, and two planets have been found in orbit around it. The host star is estimated to be 1.35 billion years old, with a mass of 0.86 solar masses and a radius of 0.771 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 5330 K. The star's reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

Both planets were discovered by transit, the method in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-404 b is classified as Earth-like and has a radius of 1.27 Earth radii. It completes an orbit in 11.8 days, and among the listed planets it has the shortest year by reported estimates. Kepler-404 c is classified as a Super-Earth and has a radius of 1.72 Earth radii. Its orbital period is 14.8 days, and among the listed planets it has the longest year by reported estimates. Among the listed planets, Kepler-404 b has the smallest radius by reported estimates, while Kepler-404 c has the largest radius by reported estimates. Both were discovered in 2014.
