Kepler-383 and Its Two Earth-Like Planets

Kepler-383 is a star with two known planets, both classified as Earth-like and both discovered in 2014 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. The star's reported mass estimate is 0.75 solar masses and its radius is 0.71 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. Its reported temperature is 4730 K, cooler than the Sun's, and its age is 3.63 billion years.

The two planets are Kepler-383 b and Kepler-383 c. Kepler-383 b has an orbital period of 12.9 days and a radius of 1.32 Earth radii, while Kepler-383 c has an orbital period of 31.2 days and a radius of 1.24 Earth radii. Radius here compares a planet's size with Earth's radius, not its volume. Among the listed planets, Kepler-383 b has the shortest year by reported estimates and the largest radius, while Kepler-383 c has the longest year and the smallest radius.
