Kepler-378 is a star 496 light-years away with two planets orbiting it. The host star is 3.24 billion years old and has a reported mass estimate of 0.78 solar masses, along with a radius estimate of 0.72 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 4750 K, which is cooler than the Sun's.
Both planets were discovered in 2014 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-378 b is a Sub-Earth with a reported radius estimate of 0.75 Earth radii and an orbital period of 16.1 days. Kepler-378 c is also a Sub-Earth, with a reported radius estimate of 0.7 Earth radii and an orbital period of 28.9 days. Among the listed planets, Kepler-378 c has the smallest radius by reported estimates, while Kepler-378 b has the largest. Among the listed planets, Kepler-378 b has the shortest year by reported estimates, at 16.1 days, and Kepler-378 c has the longest, at 28.9 days. Both planets' reported radius estimates are smaller than Earth's.
