Kepler-288: A Distant Star With Three Known Planets

Kepler-288 is a star located 3890 light-years away. It has 1.03 solar masses, 1.02 solar radii, a temperature of 5840 K, and an age of 3.72 billion years. Three planets are known to orbit it, all discovered in 2014 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star causes a small dip in observed brightness.

Kepler-288 b is a Super-Earth with a radius of 1.67 Earth radii and an orbital period of 6.1 days. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest year and the smallest radius by reported estimates. Kepler-288 c is Neptune-like, with a radius of 2.85 Earth radii and an orbital period of 19.3 days. Among the listed planets, it has the largest radius and the second-shortest year by reported estimates, and its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's. Kepler-288 d is also Neptune-like, with a radius of 2.67 Earth radii and an orbital period of 56.6 days. Among the listed planets, it has the second-smallest radius and the longest year by reported estimates, and its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
