Kepler-272 is a star located 2900 light-years from Earth, with three known planets orbiting it. The host star is 4.9 billion years old and has a mass of 0.97 solar masses, a radius of 0.95 solar radii, and a temperature of 5610 K. Its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.
All three planets were discovered by transit in 2014. In a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness.
Kepler-272 b is classified as Earth-like, with a radius of 1.43 Earth radii and an orbital period of 2.97 days. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest year and the smallest radius. Kepler-272 c is a Super-Earth with a radius of 1.79 Earth radii and an orbital period of 6.06 days, giving it the second-shortest year and second-smallest radius among the listed planets. Kepler-272 d is also a Super-Earth, with a radius of 2.25 Earth radii and an orbital period of 10.9 days. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and among the listed planets it has the longest year and the largest radius.
