Kepler-211: A Cool Star with Two Earth-Like Planets

Kepler-211 is a star located 1010 light-years away. It is 1.55 billion years old, has a mass of 0.9 solar masses, a radius of 0.81 solar radii, and a temperature of 5220 K. The star's reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. Two planets are known to orbit this host.

Both planets were discovered by transit in 2014, meaning they pass in front of their star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-211 b has an orbital period of 4.14 days and a radius of 1.26 Earth radii, while Kepler-211 c has an orbital period of 6.04 days and a radius of 1.29 Earth radii. Both are classified as Earth-like, a size class for planets within 1.5 times Earth's radius. The reported radius estimates for both planets are larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, Kepler-211 b has the shortest year and the smallest radius by reported estimates, while Kepler-211 c has the longest year and the largest radius by reported estimates.
