Kepler-1989 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-1989 is a star located 4080 light-years away. One planet orbits this host. The star has a mass of 0.999 solar masses and a radius of 1.06 solar radii, and its reported temperature of 6030 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The system's single known planet is Kepler-1989 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2023. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1989 b completes one orbit every 10.2 days, and its reported radius estimate of 4.62 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. That radius exceeds four times Earth's radius, which is why it falls into the Jupiter-like size class.
