Kepler-1946 b: A Super-Earth

Kepler-1946 is a star located 3270 light-years away, and one planet orbits it. The host star has a mass of 0.887 solar masses and a radius of 0.873 solar radii, and its temperature of 5510 K is cooler than the Sun's. Its mass is smaller than the Sun's.

The known planet, Kepler-1946 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2021. During a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1946 b completes an orbit every 3.04 days and has a radius of 2.49 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That radius places it in the Super-Earth size class, which extends to 2.5 times Earth's radius.
