Kepler-1940 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1940 is a star 2600 light-years away with one known planet. The host star has a mass of 0.782 solar masses and a radius of 0.725 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values, and a temperature of 5440 K, cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1940 b, is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius. It was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1940 b has an orbital period of 4.95 days and a radius of 1.55 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
