Kepler-1849 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-1849 is a star 2060 light-years away with one known planet. The host star has a mass of 0.709 solar masses, a radius of 0.729 solar radii, and a temperature of 4810 K, making it smaller and cooler than the Sun.

The sole planet, Kepler-1849 b, is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class reaching 2.5 times Earth's radius. It was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1849 b orbits every 57.3 days and has a radius of 2.39 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
