Kepler-1726 b: A Distant Neptune-like World

Kepler-1726 is a single-star system located 1270 light-years away. The host star has a reported mass estimate of 0.825 solar masses and a radius estimate of 0.754 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values. Its reported temperature is 5270 K, cooler than the Sun's, and its age is 2.51 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet, Kepler-1726 b, was discovered in 2021 by the transit method. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1726 b completes one orbit every 18.4 days. With a radius of 2.51 Earth radii, it is classified as Neptune-like and has a reported radius estimate larger than Earth's.
