Kepler-1710 b: A Distant Neptune-Like World

Kepler-1710 is a star located 995 light-years from Earth. It has a mass of 0.983 solar masses and a radius of 0.911 solar radii, making it slightly less massive and slightly smaller than the Sun. Its temperature is 5570 K, cooler than the Sun's. One planet orbits Kepler-1710.

That planet is Kepler-1710 b, a Neptune-like world discovered by the transit method in 2021. During a transit, a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1710 b completes one orbit every 14.9 days, and its radius is 3.2 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its size class, Neptune-like, covers planets reaching up to 4 times Earth's radius.
