Kepler-1699 b: A Super-Earth in a Close Transit

Kepler-1699 is a star located 2670 light-years away, and one planet orbits it. The host star has a mass of 0.791 solar masses and a radius of 0.724 solar radii, making it both less massive and smaller than the Sun. Its temperature is 5510 K, which is cooler than the Sun.

The planet, Kepler-1699 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by the transit method in 2020. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1699 b completes an orbit every 3.49 days and has a radius of 1.57 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
