Kepler-1646 and Its Earth-Like Planet

Kepler-1646 is a star located 416 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 4.68 billion years old, with a mass of 0.24 solar masses and a radius of 0.26 solar radii, making it smaller than the Sun in both mass and radius. Its temperature of 3300 K is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1646 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1646 b completes one orbit every 4.49 days and has a radius of 1.23 Earth radii. That radius keeps it within 1.5 times Earth's radius, so it is classified as Earth-like.
