Kepler-1603 and Its Single Known Planet

Kepler-1603 is a star located 8850 light-years away. It is 2.82 billion years old, has a mass of 1.21 solar masses, a radius of 1.31 solar radii, and a temperature of 6240 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are all reported as larger or hotter than the Sun's, making it a somewhat bigger and warmer star than our own.

One planet is known to orbit this host. Kepler-1603 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish the planet's orbital period. Kepler-1603 b completes one orbit, or one year, in 2.27 days.

Kepler-1603 b is classified as Earth-like, meaning its radius stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 1.29 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.
