Kepler-1587 and Its Earth-like Planet

Kepler-1587 is a star located 3350 light-years away. It is 5.01 billion years old and has a mass of 1.08 solar masses, a radius of 1.22 solar radii, and a temperature of 5930 K. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, as are its radius estimate and temperature. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-1587 b, an Earth-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star dims the observed brightness. With a radius of 1.33 Earth radii, it is larger than Earth and remains within the Earth-like size class, which covers planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius. It completes each orbit in 9.41 days.
